Floor can do almost anything with her voice and excel at it, but as flawless as her performance is it is still tantalizing to think of what could have been. It works well with the music and is executed perfectly. Instead Floor mostly opts for a less intense, more storytelling, vocal style. Gone are the constant soaring operatic vocals of her days with After Forever. Her incredible versatility and power are sadly not nearly used to their fullest extent. As is to be expected, she does a marvelous job. Everywhere else it is Floor who dominates the vocals. Marco takes the lead in Endlessness, a dark song, while Troy sings in the upbeat Harvest.

The folk influences have been toned down considerably compared to the previous release.Īlthough Floor Jansen is the undisputed lead vocalist, both Marco Hietala and Troy Donockley get their moment in the spotlight.

As has been the case throughout Nightwish’s career, it is clear that main songwriter Tuomas Holopainen is a pianist at heart. They make for a rich and at times complex sound, syncing perfectly with the vocals. Keyboards and orchestra fill the void left by guitars, bass, and drums. Particularly noteworthy is the excellent drumming in the heavy song Tribal. When they do come to the fore they impress. They are present throughout but rarely take center stage. Instrumentally this means there are few opportunities for guitars, bass, and drums to really shine as they did on previous Nightwish releases. Nightwish continues exploring this topic in the same vein musically: the songs are generally light on the metal and the music is less bombastic than on most previous albums. The beauty of nature and humanity’s place in it all is the overarching theme. The second of these is almost entirely instrumental and though enjoyable it will be mostly disregarded in this review.īoth thematically and stylistically the trend of the previous album (Endless Forms Most Beautiful) is continued. The release consists of two parts on two separate discs. Overall the album is more symphonic than metal. Human Nature is recognizably Nightwish with heavy orchestration, a rich sound, and clear influences from classical, film, and folk music.

Muitos preferem o Metallica, mas o Slayer está acima, principalmente por não ter tantos altos e baixos na carreira. Depois do Pantera, mais um petardo aqui no blog! Eu considero o Slayer a mais importante banda de Thrash Metal do mundo.
